Top 5 Best/Favourite Books – series is counted as one (eg. Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, LoTR, etc…)
Mine are:
Harry Potter series (JK Rowling) – Just love these books! My current favourite is Chamber of Secrets, but I love them all. Favourite characters are (of course) Snape, Harry, Hermione, Lupin, Lockhart and Luna, but there are heaps of others that I like as well. I can’t wait for the 6th book to come out, I hope JK doesn’t leave us in the lurch by not getting around to finishing them, eep
Discworld Series (Terry Pratchett) – These books are great! A lot harder to get into than HP, but once you do, you’ll have to keep reading It’s better if you can latch on to different characters. I love the wizards the most, they’re hilarious They’d get along well in the HP world, hehehe I can see it now… Mustrum Ridcully of DW meets Albus Dumbledore of HP… Let the craziness ensue Snape’d get mightily peeved, hehe!
Chronicles of Narnia (C.S Lewis) – Childrens’ classics, I grew up on these books, and the BBC TV version, LOL And there’s going to be a movie, that’ll be so cool! My favourite of the series was of course The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. I also liked The Silver Chair (the book not the band, LOL ), which featured Puddleglum, who was played by Tom Baker in the BBC version
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (John Berendt) – I had to read this for English in year 12 It was a huge book, and it was a bit daunting actually. But once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down, it was great! It’s a rather good mystery as well… It was made into a movie starring John Cusack (which was pretty good, and I like John Cusack too so that helped).
Murder on the Orient Express (Agatha Christie) – My favourite Agatha Christie mystery… starring that fantabulous little Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot. I love all the AC mysteries I’ve read, but this is a stand out to me. It’s just so cleverly written and well thought out. Plus Hercule was such a neat little character, couldn’t help but like him, although I know a few people who prefer the Miss Marple mysteries
